After weeks of drafting, testing, changing, grading, and drawing and writing instructions, Sewabaloo is looking to expand our team of pattern testing volunteers.

The next pattern is a lovely button-down shirt dress in three variations, sized from age 1 – age 12:

View A – a short sleeved collarless shirt dress with patch pockets and ties at the front;

View B – a sleeveless pinafore dress with deep inset pockets and ties at the back; and

View C – a peplum blouse with cap sleeves, a Peter Pan collar and ties at the back.

It’s a straightforward sew, incorporating simple techniques such as understitching, gathering and topstitching, although accurate and careful pressing and pinning will be required throughout.

Three views of the shirt dress pattern to be tested.

Because of the wide sizing range and multiple views, additional pattern testing volunteers are required.  Sewers of all levels and experience are welcome – feedback from a beginner sewer will be just as helpful as feedback from an experienced seamstress.  The patterns will be sent out in pdf format, so of course international sewers are welcome, too.

The patterns will be sent out on Friday 3rd July and should be sewn within the following three weeks, all feedback and photographs to be returned by July 24th.

We would like to hear of any issues with fit or problems relating to clarity of the instructions and illustrations, typing or grammatical errors.  Photographs demonstrating any problems would be very helpful.  We would also like good quality photographs of the finished garment, which will be shared on this website and through Sewabaloo’s social media channels (so if you would rather not have photographs of your children on the internet please let us know, or send in photographs of your items modelled on hangers or mannequins instead.)

If you would like to participate and are able to commit to sewing a garment and returning your feedback within this timescale, please complete the survey linked below with your details.  A team of testers will be selected across the range of skills and experience, from beginner to experienced, and will be selected according to which style and size they would like to sew, to ensure that the maximum range of sizes and views are tested.  Each tester will only be required to test one item.

If you are interested in joining the testing team, please act quickly, as the patterns will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.   Hope you can join us!

** Edit **
The response to this post has been great and I now have all the testers I need this round.  If you are still interested in testing, please join  my mailing list (in the box below), subscribe to the blog or follow me on facebook or twitter, so you can be among the first to hear when I’m next looking for pattern testers.
