1/2 day course, suitable for beginners

Do you have a sewing machine but are unsure how to use it?  Have you been inspired by the Great British Sewing Bee but are a bit nervous of your sewing machine?

This half day class will familiarise you with your sewing machine and give you the ideal introduction to using this fantastic tool, covering these basic points:

  • How to thread a sewing machine and change the needle
  • Identify the different parts of a sewing machine
  • Learn about seam allowance
  • Learn how to guide fabric
  • Learn how to cut material
  • Learn how to wind a bobbin and stitch seams

During the class you will make a tote bag which you can then take home with you.  All the materials will be provided for you within the price of the course.
You must bring your own sewing machine to this class.  Please remember to bring your power lead, foot pedal and manual (if you have one) and ensure that it is in working order.  If it hasn’t been used for a while (especially if, for example, it was gifted to you from your aunt’s attic) I would advise having it serviced before the class to ensure problem-free sewing.  I am happy to recommend an excellent sewing machine service centre on request.

This class is held in the Sewabaloo Studio at The Model House, Llantrisant, South Wales CF72 8EB.
